Ah, the Neopets AG - the "Art Gallery".
"Here are some of the best fan pictures we have been sent. To enter your Neopets related pictures click here. If your picture is published, you will earn 10,000 NP, a rare item and a trophy for your cabinet.
The picture must be your own creation. Copyrighted images or pictures just taken off the Neopets site will not be accepted. If you send in someone elses picture and claim it is your own, your account WILL be frozen!"
Well, but of course. That's the first text you see when you open up the Neopian Art Gallery. Let me say that this is a rant - and it may offend some people, though I try to be as inoffensive as possible when dealing with subjects that may involve pals of mine. I'm friendly with a great many fan-artists on the site for obvious reasons.
You can enter 3 times a day, and I usually do. Despite this, I have only won three times on my current main account, "sanjisangel". Some users win constantly - 26 times or more. I always wonder why their art can be accepted while mine gets rejected summarily.
"We try to use as many various styles, abilities and ages as possible so that each member has a fair chance of getting chosen. Obviously it helps if you can draw but if you have put an awful lot of effort into something that will help also."
Pardon my saying so, but for those of us who have talent and have tried multiple times, this is a pile of what the staff would invariably call "dung". I can draw in various styles - it doesn't have to look like "mine" really. I've tried different techniques, mediums, and anything I could think of to win. For those of you who don't know what my art is like, here is a sample of why I'm always so angry:

Can you tell me why? One is obviously better, although it doesn't have a background. It is saved in the proper format, clear, the proper size (I resize everything before I send them in), and all the other criteria has been adhered to.
I've been told to try and "suck up" by doing favorite days and pets of the staff:

Of course not. (Unless it gets accepted for Valentine's Day - HA HA HA! Right.)
You may ask why I'm so concerned about a silly virtual pet site. Well, it's a simple reason really. What they pick is generally the most popular artists. The styles, the ones with the most views on DA. That sort of thing. It's professional pride - and I want to be able to create "popular" art. I'd love my account here to have a few thousand pageviews. It'd be great! I need exposure, and this is my testing grounds.
But it irritates me to see them ignore my work for other kinds. I just sit back and wonder why this piece of mine got in:

Is it just because it was an original idea? What about quality? Whenever I enter something that took me five seconds and looks like "dung", it gets accepted. Do these people think I'm stealing all the other art? Do they think I'm incapable of creating such art? If they did, wouldn't I be frozen for theft right now?
I sometimes wonder if they're even receiving the art I send.
In the end I keep on drawing. I still draw, even though I can have similiar (almost exact) work to some artists on DA that get 345 views and 34 faves on their pieces when I get 34 views and 3 faves. (And trust me, that's up a lot from what I used to get.)
I'll never understand, but in the end it won't make me stop doing what I was meant to do - and love doing. I keep trying, even at my age and beyond. I just wish I could get more recognition; I've tried for so long that I think it'd be nice.

Please note that I'm really just getting something off my chest.
I don't really want critiques of my work or the usual "but if you did this, it'd get in" suggestions.
I want to rave about it, be done with it and shelve the anger away for a few weeks. Of course, people agreeing with me would help. *snerk* I'm not above stating that. This isn't a very good "satire", but it's ironically bitter and more of a prodding at the staff and myself than an essay. So hell. I put it under that.

I can see this was done years ago, but I just wanted to say that I never got accepted to the AG and I'm enrolled in art school so I'd say it's random
